How to use Singulair:
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. CHEW THOROUGHLY before swallowing. Generally, this medicine is taken once daily in the evening on an empty stomach or with food. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and you are taking 1 dose daily, take the missed dose if you remember the same day. Skip the missed dose if you do not remember until the next day. DO NOT take 2 doses at once.
Common reasons for using Singulair:
This medicine is a leukotriene receptor antagonist used for the prevention and long term treatment of asthma. It is also used to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Common side effects of Singulair:
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include diarrhea, stomach upset, cough, headache, or mouth pain. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience the following side effects or symptoms of toxicity: flu-like illness, severe sinus inflammation, rash, numbness or tingling of arms and legs, muscle aches/cramps, stomach pain, yellowing eyes or skin, easy bruising or bleeding, swelling, or seizures. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Cautions before using Singulair:
THIS MEDICINE WILL NOT STOP AN ASTHMA ATTACK once one has started. IF YOU ARE ALSO USING A BRONCHODILATOR INHALER, be sure to always carry the inhaler with you to use during asthma attacks. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE or if they become worse while you are using this medicine. DO NOT STOP USING THIS MEDICINE without first checking with your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using this medicine. DO NOT GIVE THIS MEDICINE to children under the age of 6 years, unless directed otherwise by your doctor. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. PHENYLKETONURICS: this medicine contains phenylalanine.
